Merry Days & Jolly Nights in New London – Christmas Tree Lighting at Parade Plaza

On November 29, 2024, New London kicks off its holiday season with Merry Days & Jolly Nights, a series of events celebrating the city’s vibrant cultural and faith traditions. Join the community at Parade Plaza from 5:30 pm to 7 pm for the Christmas Tree Lighting event, where festive carols and a performance by the Shoreline Ringers Bell Choir set a joyful tone. Santa will make a grand entrance down Banks Street in a brilliantly illuminated Jeep, and photos with Santa will follow at The Golden Owl.
This year’s Christmas tree is decorated with unique ornaments crafted by a local artist, adding a special touch to the event. The celebration marks the beginning of a season filled with holiday activities in Downtown New London, including:
- Santa Shopping Stroll on December 14: Explore downtown shops with a festive Santa hat and map, collecting stamps at participating locations for a chance to win a merchant gift basket.
- Hygienic’s “Art=Gift” Holiday Show: Featuring handcrafted art by local and regional artists, offering unique, affordable gift options.
- Lighting of the Menorah on December 25 at Parade Plaza, 5 pm.
- Kwanzaa Lighting of the Kinara on December 26, 5 pm.
- Three Kings Celebration on January 6 sponsored by the Asociación de Dominicanos de New London.
