MattaTrek 20(26.2) Marathon and 5K Hiking Fundraiser at Mattatuck Museum

Support the Mattatuck Museum during the 4th Annual MattaTrek 20(26.2) Marathon and 5K Hiking Fundraiser on Friday, August 21, and Saturday, August 22, 2026.

The weekend begins on Friday with a 26.2-mile marathon hike along Connecticut’s scenic Shenipsit Trail. The guided trek starts at 8 am from the Toll Gate Road Trailhead in Meshomasic State Forest and follows the historic trail north to Shenipsit State Forest.

On Saturday, participants of all ages are invited to a family-friendly 5K hike at Flanders-Whittemore Sanctuary. Registration and T-shirt pickup begin at 8:30 am, with the walk starting at 9 am.

Presented rain or shine, MattaTrek raises support for the museum while encouraging participants to experience Connecticut’s natural landscapes through hiking and community engagement.
