Maple Sugaring Open House (Hamden)

Visit various learning stations to share with the history and science behind the ancient craft of maple sugaring at the Maple Sugaring Open House on March 17th in Hamden, Connecticut.

Native American legends about the discovery of maple sugaring will be presented. Exhibits, artifacts, and a visit to the maple grove and sugar shack will provide an opportunity to understand the process from sap to syrup.

Each year in later winter, as the days start to lengthen, the Sugar Maple trees at the park are tapped for their sweet sap. Collected, boiled down and bottled, Maple Syrup is made in Brooksvale Park’s very own Sugar Shack.
