Lyman Orchards 285th Anniversary Festival at Lyman Orchards

May 16 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
Lyman Orchards 285th Anniversary Festival at Lyman Orchards

A milestone celebration honoring nearly three centuries of farming tradition will take place May 16 from 10 am to 3 pm and May 17 from 10 am to 3 pm at Lyman Orchards, 32 Reeds Gap Road, Middlefield, CT 06455.

The Lyman Orchards 285th Anniversary Festival brings together history, family fun, and classic farm experiences across two days of activities and entertainment. Visitors can enjoy horse-drawn wagon rides, face painting, petting farm encounters, and hands-on colonial crafts, along with live music and interactive demonstrations throughout the day. Historical elements come to life with jam-making and apple pie baking demonstrations, fife and drum performances, costumed characters, and guided tours of the Lyman Homestead.

Guests can take part in games such as volleyball, cornhole, and potato sack races, or cheer on participants in the pie-eating contest. Additional highlights include basket weaving demonstrations and classes, silhouette portraits, and appearances by local performers and organizations. A variety of colonial-inspired treats, including chicken pot pie, cornbread with honey butter, molasses cookies, dried apple chips, and fresh-baked pies, will be available for purchase.

As one of the oldest continuously operating orchards in the United States, this festival celebrates 285 years of agriculture, community, and tradition in a setting rich with history.
