Lyman Homestead Tours at Lyman Orchards

Explore the historic 1864 Lyman Homestead during this rare opportunity to step inside a piece of Connecticut history. Guided tours will offer an insightful glimpse into the Lyman family’s heritage, which dates back to 1741, and the fascinating story of David Lyman, who built the grand homestead using a fortune earned from manufacturing washing machines and wringers in Middlefield.

Led by historian Diana Ross McCain, author of Thy Children’s Children, these tours will take you through several rooms of the 24-room Homestead, sharing highlights of eight generations of Lyman family history.

Tours will last approximately 45 minutes, and tickets must be purchased in advance, as groups are limited to 15 people each. Copies of McCain’s book will be available for purchase and signing during the event.

While at Lyman Orchards, visit the Apple Barrel Farm Market to enjoy Jammies, Cocoa & Carols, a festive family event running from 10 am to 3 pm.
