Lunch and Learn – Faith Trumbull Huntington: An Eighteenth-Century Woman Encounters War at Connecticut Museum of Culture and History

This virtual presentation explores the life of Faith Trumbull Huntington (1742/43–1775), a highly educated colonial woman from Lebanon, CT. As the eldest daughter of merchant and future wartime governor Jonathan Trumbull, Faith developed exceptional artistic and needlework skills and married wealthy merchant Jedediah Huntington of Norwich. Historian Marggie Meahl examines Faith’s education, artistic achievements, marriage, and early death within the context of the Revolutionary War era merchant class. Sensitive topics including depression and suicide will be discussed.
The program takes place online on January 27, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. This event is free and open to the public. Tickets are required to receive the Zoom link. For more information, contact Jen Busa, Public Programs Coordinator, at jbusa@connecticutmuseum.org.
