Looking and Making a Painting at Yale University Art Gallery

Art enthusiasts can explore contemporary interpretations of painting in Looking and Making a Painting, a Gallery Talk led by Clara Poteet, the John Walsh Fellow in Museum Education. This engaging event takes place on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at 12:30 pm at the Yale University Art Gallery in New Haven.

The discussion focuses on two works from the collection—an untitled painting by Kerry James Marshall and January 1977 by Sylvia Plimack Mangold (B.F.A. 1961). Poteet will explore how these artists examine the act of painting itself, challenging traditional notions of genre and offering fresh, thought-provoking encounters with their work.

The Yale University Art Gallery is located at 1111 Chapel Street, New Haven, Connecticut. Admission is free and open to the public. For more information, visit artgallery.yale.edu.
