LL Bean Outing Club: Paddle in Huntington State Park

Bring your own kayak or canoe to Huntington State Park. A large pond here actually has an island and a small “lighthouse”. This gem of a pond is a pleasant, low-key getaway in busy Fairfield County, CT.

ACTIVITY LEVEL: Easy.

WHERE TO MEET: Boat-launch site in Huntington State Park, Old Dodgingtown Rd., off of Sunset Hill Road, Redding, CT.

WHAT TO BRING: PFD (required), kayak, paddle, weather-appropriate clothing (layers, no cotton), hat with visor, closed-toe shoes or water shoes, snacks, lunch, water, personal medications.

OPTIONAL RECOMMENDED ITEMS: Sunglasses, camera, binoculars, paddle float, spray skirt, headlamp, bathing suit, towel, small day pack with extra clothes and change of shoes for after the paddle.
