History enthusiasts can enjoy an engaging evening when historian Mike Allen presents How Connecticut Thumbed Its Nose at Prohibition at the Connecticut River Museum on Monday, November 17, 2025, from 6 pm to 7 pm.

This presentation explores Connecticut’s defiant response to the Prohibition era, when the state resisted the national ban on alcohol and saw widespread violations of the law. Allen will share fascinating stories of bootlegging along the Connecticut River and the rebellious spirit that characterized the state during this turbulent time.

Mike Allen has spent over 50 years in Connecticut, known for his ability to bring history to life. He is the host and producer of the podcast Amazing Tales About History and has an extensive background in journalism, public service, and corporate communications.

The program will be available both in person and virtually. Admission is free for members and $5 for non-members. Virtual attendees must purchase a ticket in advance to access the live stream.
