Kenji Nakahashi: Strange Beauty at the Bruce Museum
April 5 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 10:00 am on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, repeating until April 27, 2025

The Bruce Museum in Greenwich presents Kenji Nakahashi: Strange Beauty, on view from February 6 through April 27, 2025. Known for his conceptual and street photography, Nakahashi created visually arresting images from everyday life, transforming ordinary subjects—such as eggs, pencils, and subway scenes—into playful, surreal compositions. With more than thirty photographs on display, the exhibition invites viewers to experience the artist’s unique perspective and the surprising beauty found in the mundane.
Born in Ibigawa, Japan, and later based in New York City, Nakahashi brought a graphic designer’s eye and experimental spirit to his work. This exhibition celebrates a recent gift to the museum’s collection and offers insight into the visual puns, uncanny juxtapositions, and abstract compositions that defined his photography.
The Bruce Museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm. Admission is $20 for adults, $15 for seniors (62+) and students, and free for children under 5 and members. Discounts and reciprocal admission are available in person only. The museum participates in Museums for All, offering free admission to up to four individuals per EBT card.
The Bruce Museum is located at 1 Museum Drive, Greenwich, CT 06903. For more information, visit brucemuseum.org or contact info@brucemuseum.org.
