Introduction to Local Mushroom Hunting

Introduction to Local Mushroom Hunting will beheld at Fiddleheads Food Co-op in New London, Connecticut on March 27th.

Most people don’t know it, but there are some amazing edible mushroom in Connecticut. Using a slideshow of all-local photography, Ryan and Emily will explain the art of mushroom science and safety, and then focus on some great edible species for the upcoming spring season. Emphasis will be on the ones that are considered “safe for beginners”…and delicious ways to cook them.

The Mushroom Hunting Foundation was co-created by Ryan T. Bouchard and Emily Schmidt, with the purpose of teaching more Americans how to safely enjoy our native fungi. Emily studies the health benefits of our local species, and the many ways they can be cooked. Ryan is the author and photographer of Gourmet Mushrooms of the Northeast, which will be available at the presentation.
