In Our Nation's Defense: Military Stories on the Thames at The Submarine Force Museum

Discover the military history of the Thames River during In Our Nation’s Defense: Military Stories on the Thames, a narrated boat tour departing from the Nautilus Dock at The Submarine Force Museum in Groton. This guided cruise explores the region’s role in American military history, from the Revolutionary War to the development of the modern submarine force.

During the approximately 75-minute tour, guests will cruise past landmarks including the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and Naval Submarine Base New London while learning about the area’s contributions during the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, World Wars I and II, and the evolution of submarine warfare. The narrated experience highlights the Thames River’s lasting importance to the nation’s defense.

Tours are scheduled for Friday, July 10, from 3 pm to 4:15 pm; Saturday, July 11, from 11:30 am to 12:45 pm and 3 pm to 4:15 pm; and Sunday, July 12, from 1:30 pm to 2:45 pm and 3 pm to 4:15 pm.
