In Our Nation’s Defense at Submarine Force Library Museum

The Thames River’s rich history in protecting America comes to life with the In Our Nation’s Defense tour at the Submarine Force Library Museum in Groton. From July 18 to 20, 2025, visitors can explore how this region has safeguarded the country, from the days of the American Revolution to modern submarine warfare.

Guests will visit a Revolutionary War battle site and take in views of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and Submarine Base New London. The tour highlights fascinating stories, including Benedict Arnold’s betrayal that led to the burning of New London, and how the area evolved into the Submarine Capital of the World. Visitors will also see where submarines are built and gain insights into the naval legacy that continues today.
