Imagining Futurities: A Symposium in Honor of Hazel Carby at Yale Center for British Art

A two-day symposium honoring scholar Hazel Carby will begin Friday, November 6, from 2:30 to 7:30 pm in the Lecture Hall at the Yale Center for British Art. The free public event recognizes Carby’s influential contributions to American studies, Black studies, cultural studies, and the study of colonialism and empire.
Throughout her career, including 30 years as a faculty member at Yale, Carby produced scholarship that helped shape these fields and their intellectual conversations. Imagining Futurities brings together an opportunity to reflect on her work, its lasting impact, and the ideas it continues to inspire.
