HSO Masterworks Series: Sirena Plays Sibelius at The Bushnell

Celebrate Valentine’s weekend with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra as they present Sirena Plays Sibelius, part of the 2024-2025 Masterworks Series. Acclaimed violinist and HSO favorite Sirena Huang returns to the Belding Stage to perform the iconic Sibelius violin concerto, a piece that perfectly encapsulates romance and passion.

The program also features Don Juan and the HSO premiere of Negro Folk Symphony by William Dawson. Described as a “distinctive and promising American symphonic proclamation” by critics in 1934, Dawson’s work offers dramatic emotion, melodic richness, and a reflection of African American heritage.

Performances are scheduled for:

• Friday, February 14, 2025, at 8:00 pm
• Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 8:00 pm
• Sunday, February 16, 2025, at 3:00 pm

All performances will take place in the Maxwell M. and Ruth R. Belding Theater at The Bushnell. Tickets are available through the Hartford Symphony Orchestra.
