HSO Masterworks Series: Pines of Rome at The Bushnell

Orchestral color and sweeping musical landscapes take center stage when the Hartford Symphony Orchestra presents Pines of Rome as part of its 2025–2026 Masterworks Series on March 13 and 14, 2026 at 8:00 pm and March 15, 2026 at 3:00 pm at The Bushnell in Hartford.

Conducted by Kalena Bovell, the program features Ottorino Respighi’s Pines of Rome, a vivid and cinematic work that paints the Italian countryside with bold brass fanfares, atmospheric textures, and lush harmonies. Last performed by the HSO in 2013, this audience favorite returns with all its grandeur and dramatic flair.

The concert also includes Gabriela Lena Frank’s Apu, inspired by Andean culture and blending folk traditions with contemporary orchestral language. Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 3 adds elegance and warmth to the program, performed by Ukrainian violinist and UConn professor Solomiya Ivakhiv.

Performances take place at The Bushnell, 166 Capitol Avenue, Hartford, CT 06106. All tickets are sold through the Hartford Symphony Orchestra.
