HSO Masterworks Series: Dvorák & Firebird at The Bushnell

A powerful season finale blending classical masterworks with contemporary interpretation comes to The Bushnell from June 5 through June 7, 2026 as part of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra 2025–2026 Masterworks Series.

Performance times are June 5 and June 6 at 8 pm, and June 7 at 3 pm.

The program opens with Death and Transfiguration by Richard Strauss, a dramatic orchestral work portraying the emotional journey of life’s final moments.

Returning as the Hartford Symphony Orchestra’s 2025–2026 Joyce C. Willis Artist in Residence, Curtis Stewart presents an innovative pairing of his work The Famous People alongside selections from Slavonic Dances by Antonín Dvořák. The performance creates a musical dialogue between Dvořák’s original dances and Stewart’s contemporary reimaginings, highlighting both tradition and transformation.

Stewart will also perform Zigeunerweisen, the virtuosic violin showcase by Pablo de Sarasate.

The concert concludes with The Firebird Suite by Igor Stravinsky, an orchestral masterpiece inspired by Russian folklore and celebrated for its imaginative orchestration and dramatic storytelling.

All tickets for this performance are sold through the Hartford Symphony Orchestra.
