How the Upper Crust Lived: The Gilded Age in Stamford 1865–1905 at Stamford History Center

Step into the elegance and innovation of Stamford’s past with How the Upper Crust Lived: The Gilded Age in Stamford 1865–1905, on view at the Stamford History Center from September 22, 2024, through June 7, 2025. This immersive exhibition explores the lives of Stamford’s entrepreneurs, industrialists, and fashionable elites during a period of tremendous economic and cultural change.

Guests will encounter notable Stamford landmarks such as the Yale & Towne Factory and the Blickensderfer Typewriter Factory, as well as a curated collection of period art, clothing, photographs, documents, home furnishings, and artifacts that tell the story of the city’s rise during the Gilded Age.

The exhibit opens with remarks from Executive Director Dr. Tom Zoubek on September 22. Regular museum hours are Thursday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
