History Hike: Whittemore Sanctuary at the Mattatuck Museum

Explore the natural beauty and history of Whittemore Sanctuary during the Mattatuck Museum’s History Hike on Monday, August 24, 2026, from 10 am to 12 pm.
This free guided outing takes participants to the White Trail loop at Flanders Nature Center, where hikers will enjoy a scenic walk through the sanctuary while discovering the area’s natural and historical significance. Along the route, participants will also have the opportunity to try letterboxing, a recreational treasure hunt that combines hiking with clue-solving.
Transportation to the trailhead is provided. Participants should arrive at the Mattatuck Museum by 9:30 am for departure.
