History Hike — Orzech Preserve at Roxbury Land Trust

Experience the natural beauty of western Connecticut during the History Hike — Orzech Preserve on July 20, 2026, from 10 am to 12 pm. Led by Mattatuck Museum Development Director Barbara Bradbury-Pape, this guided outing offers an opportunity to explore the scenic landscapes and rich environmental heritage of the Orzech Preserve.

Participants will enjoy a gentle two-mile walk along the Kress Family Trail, which follows the Shepaug River and provides sweeping views of the preserve. The hike offers a relaxing way to connect with nature while learning more about the area’s history and conservation efforts.

The program is free to attend and is sponsored by the Connecticut Community Foundation. Participants should plan to meet at the Orzech Preserve at 10 am, as transportation is not provided.

The Orzech Preserve is managed by the Roxbury Land Trust and is located in Roxbury, Connecticut. Comfortable walking shoes and weather-appropriate attire are recommended.
