Free Theater Tours at Westport Country Playhouse

Step behind the curtain and explore the history and magic of the Westport Country Playhouse with a free guided tour on Friday, May 16 at 10:30 am.
Originally a 19th-century cow barn, the Playhouse opened its doors in 1931 and has since become a designated National Treasure with a legacy of over 800 productions—42 of which went on to New York stages. Guests can explore the theater’s storied past and see where legendary performers like Gene Wilder, Jane Fonda, Eartha Kitt, and James Earl Jones once stood, as well as more recent stars like Jonathan Groff, Audra McDonald, and Patti LuPone.
This behind-the-scenes tour offers an inside look at the Playhouse’s design process and production work, with access to set models, costumes, backstage areas, and even the dressing rooms. Attendees will also have the unique opportunity to stand on the iconic stage that has hosted decades of theatrical history.
Tours are free and last approximately 90 minutes. Space is limited to 25 participants, and advance registration is required. Donations to support the Playhouse are welcome.
The Westport Country Playhouse is located at 25 Powers Court, Westport, CT 06880. For more information or to register, visit westportplayhouse.org or call (203) 227-4177.
