First Friday: Eight to the Bar at New Britain Museum of American Art

Celebrate the start of August at the New Britain Museum of American Art with its signature social event, First Friday, on August 1, 2025, beginning at 5:30 pm.

This lively evening features a performance by Eight to the Bar, a dynamic ensemble drawing from swing, boogie-woogie, Motown, and other American roots music. Known for their sophisticated musical arrangements and vibrant female vocals, the band promises a high-energy performance perfect for dancing and socializing.

Guests can enjoy a cash bar and explore the museum’s galleries, which are open and included with event admission. Doors open at 5:30 pm. The event space accommodates several hundred attendees, with limited seating available and ample standing room—early arrival is recommended for those seeking a seat.

Admission is $8 for museum members and $16 for non-members when purchased online (sales close at 5 pm on the day of the event). At the door, tickets are $10 for members and $20 for non-members. Please note, this is a 21+ event and children are not permitted.
