Firelight Festival at Henry Whitfield State Museum

December 6, 2024 @ 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Firelight Festival at Henry Whitfield State Museum

Celebrate the approach of the winter solstice at the Firelight Festival, held outside Connecticut’s oldest house. Experience the warmth and glow of festive luminaria, lanterns, and outdoor fires on this special evening.

Guests can enjoy roasted marshmallows, popcorn, hot cocoa, and mulled cider while exploring the museum’s unique offerings. Craft a punched “tin” (paper) lantern to take home, tour the Whitfield House after dark, and explore the archaeology exhibit History Beneath Our Feet. Don’t miss the opportunity to shop for holiday gifts in the museum’s gift shop.

In the spirit of the season, donations of nonperishable items for the Guilford Food Bank and new, unwrapped toys for Toys for Tots are encouraged.

Tickets are available on-site the night of the event and provide access to the outdoor fire area, craft activities, Whitfield House, and Visitor Center galleries. Parking is free, and reservations are not required. If a statewide burn ban is in effect, special electric “firelight” will be used.
