Find Your Story Here: “A Street Corner in Jamaica” at Yale Center for British Art

Visitors are invited to reflect on John Minton’s vivid homoerotic paintings of Black men in Jamaica and consider why a prominent mid-century white English artist created these works. This program is part of a series of conversations with Jackson Davidow that explores LGBTQ histories within the Yale Center for British Art’s collection.

Each session highlights lesser-known artworks across different media from the eighteenth century to the present, uncovering hidden narratives, challenging traditional interpretations, and shedding light on the lives and legacies of queer figures in British art history.

The discussion will be followed by refreshments and an opportunity to connect. The program will take place on Friday, October 10, 2025, from 3:30 pm to 4 pm at the Yale Center for British Art, 1080 Chapel Street, New Haven, Connecticut. Admission is free.
