Exhibit Opening for “Caught in the Crosshairs: The Secret of the Norden Bombsight” (Norwalk Historical Society Museum)

The Norwalk Historical Society will be celebrating CT Open House Day 2019 with an opening reception for the new exhibit: “Caught in the Crosshairs: The Secret of the Norden Bombsight”. Visit the Norwalk Historical Society Museum on Saturday, June 8, 2019 from 12:00pm – 4:00pm to view the new exhibition and take part in CT Open House Day, the state wide unified celebration of Connecticut’s fascinating world of art, history and tourism This event is free and open to the public. Parking and Museum front entrance is from the Norwalk City Hall campus (125 East Avenue). The Museum is located next to the Norwalk Health Depart in the red brick house with blue double front doors.

“Caught in the Crosshairs: The Secret of the Norden Bombsight” explores the history behind the Norden Bombsight which was an American technological breakthrough that enabled the military to target bombs with unprecedented precision and accuracy. During World War II (1939-1945), the Bombsight was shrouded in secrecy. One of the historic Norden Bombsight’s will be on display at the Norwalk Historical Society Museum, donated by the former Northrup Grumman Norden Systems, a business that was part of the Norwalk, Connecticut community for over fifty years (1961-2013). The exhibition is curated by Judith Bacal with special thanks to those that contributed to the exhibition: Fran DiMeglio, Norden Systems Retirees Club and Norwalk History Room.
