Engaging with Elements: Manipulated Materialities at Yale University Art Gallery

Visitors can explore the dynamic relationship between the classical elements—water, earth, fire, and air—and modern craft during Engaging with Elements: Manipulated Materialities on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 12:30 pm.

Jennifer Paige Blue, the Marcia Brady Tucker Fellow in the Department of American Decorative Arts, will lead a discussion centered around a new installation in the modern and contemporary design galleries. The display features four striking works representing the elements through diverse media: metal, ceramics, wood, and glass. The talk will highlight both the symbolic and technical connections among these objects, revealing the innovative techniques used by their creators.

Yale University Art Gallery is located at 1111 Chapel Street, New Haven, Connecticut. Admission is free. For more information, visit artgallery.yale.edu or call 203-432-0600.
