Docent Tour | The Architecture of the YCBA at Yale Center for British Art

This docent-led tour offers an in-depth look at the iconic Yale Center for British Art building, designed by renowned modernist architect Louis I. Kahn (1901–1974). Led by the museum’s volunteer educators, the tour explores Kahn’s architectural vision, including the building’s materials, light-filled spaces, and thoughtful integration of form and function, all of which shape the visitor experience.
The tour takes place on Sunday, January 25, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 3:45 pm at the Yale Center for British Art, 1080 Chapel Street, New Haven, CT. Tours meet in the Entrance Court by the Visitor Services desk. Participation is included with museum admission, and no advance registration is required.
