Docent Tour | The Architecture of the YCBA at Yale Center for British Art
Discover the architectural significance of one of New Haven’s modernist landmarks during a docent-led tour of the Yale Center for British Art. This engaging 45-minute tour offers an in-depth look at the building’s design by renowned architect Louis I. Kahn (1901–1974), considered one of the most important architects of the 20th century.
The tour explores how Kahn’s vision is reflected in the museum’s natural lighting, geometric harmony, and integration of concrete, steel, and natural wood. Visitors will gain insight into how the building’s design enhances the experience of viewing art and why it remains a masterpiece of modern architecture.
The architecture tour will take place on Sunday, July 27, 2025, from 3:00 to 3:45 pm. Guests should meet in the Entrance Court by the Visitor Services desk.
