Docent Tour | The Architecture of the YCBA at Yale Center for British Art

Discover the innovative architecture of the Yale Center for British Art through an in-depth docent-led tour. Designed by the renowned modernist architect Louis I. Kahn (1901–1974), the building is celebrated for its masterful use of natural light and thoughtful design that complements the museum’s remarkable collection.
This interactive tour invites visitors to learn more about Kahn’s vision, the building’s unique features, and its significance within the context of modern architecture. Visitors will gain new perspectives on how the architecture shapes the experience of viewing art.
Tours meet in the Entrance Court by the Visitor Services desk and are guided by the Center’s dedicated volunteer docents, who serve as welcoming ambassadors and encourage engaging dialogue. Each tour lasts approximately 45 minutes and highlights the docents’ personal insights.
The Architecture of the YCBA Docent Tour takes place on July 13, 2025, from 3:00 to 3:45 pm at the Yale Center for British Art, 1080 Chapel Street, New Haven, CT.
Admission to the tour is included with museum entry. For details, visit britishart.yale.edu.
