Docent Tour: The Architecture of the Yale Center for British Art at the Yale Center for British Art

The Yale Center for British Art in New Haven will offer a docent-led tour on Sunday, November 2, 2025, from 3:00 to 3:45 pm, exploring the architectural brilliance of the museum’s iconic building designed by modernist architect Louis I. Kahn (1901–1974). This in-depth experience highlights Kahn’s masterful use of light, space, and materials, which make the museum one of the most celebrated examples of modern architecture in the United States.
Led by volunteer museum educators, the tour provides insight into Kahn’s design philosophy and the innovative features that shape the visitor experience. Participants will also learn about how the building complements and enhances the museum’s renowned collection of British art.
Tours meet in the Entrance Court by the Visitor Services desk. The Yale Center for British Art is located at 1080 Chapel Street, New Haven, Connecticut. Admission is free, and no registration is required.
