Docent Tour: John Constable: The Landscape Reimagined at Yale Center for British Art

Discover the innovative landscape paintings of John Constable during a free docent-led tour at the Yale Center for British Art on Sunday, October 25, from 1 to 1:45 pm. Held in the second-floor galleries, the tour offers an engaging overview of John Constable: The Landscape Reimagined, an exhibition exploring the artist’s influence on European landscape painting.
Constable challenged the conventions of the picturesque tradition by placing skies, light, seasons, and atmosphere at the center of his work. His bold, open-air paintings offered a new way of representing nature and helped transform the direction of landscape art.
Led by volunteer museum educators, this conversational tour encourages dialogue and deeper understanding of key artworks and exhibition themes. Participants meet in the Entrance Court by the Welcome Desk. Admission is free.
