Docent Tour: J. M. W. Turner – Romance and Reality at Yale Center for British Art

The Yale Center for British Art in New Haven will offer a docent-led tour of J. M. W. Turner: Romance and Reality on Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 3:00 to 3:45 pm. This special exhibition highlights the museum’s remarkable Turner collection—the largest outside the United Kingdom.

Guests will explore Turner’s pioneering approach to landscape painting through iconic oil paintings, watercolors, and prints. Known for his masterful use of light, color, and atmosphere, Turner’s work continues to shape the trajectory of art history. The exhibition provides insight into his groundbreaking techniques and artistic legacy.

Tours begin in the Entrance Court by the Visitor Services desk and are guided by the museum’s dedicated volunteer docents. These 45-minute experiences offer engaging, personalized interpretations of the collection, set within the renowned Louis I. Kahn-designed building.
