Docent Tour: “J. M. W. Turner: Romance and Reality” at Yale Center for British Art

Discover the visionary artistry of J. M. W. Turner during this docent-led tour of Romance and Reality, a special exhibition at the Yale Center for British Art. This tour offers an in-depth look at the museum’s unparalleled Turner collection—the largest outside of the United Kingdom—including his masterful oil paintings, watercolors, and prints.

Visitors will explore how Turner’s bold use of light, color, and atmosphere redefined the genre of landscape painting and continues to influence artists today. Led by knowledgeable volunteer educators, this 45-minute tour invites engaging conversation and insight into Turner’s innovative techniques and personal vision.

The tour will take place on Thursday, July 24, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 2:45 pm. Participants should meet in the Entrance Court by the Visitor Services desk.
