Docent Tour: Hew Locke at Yale Center for British Art

The Yale Center for British Art invites visitors to engage with the thought-provoking work of contemporary artist Hew Locke during the Docent Tour: Hew Locke on Sunday, November 23, 2025, from 1 pm to 1:45 pm. Led by the museum’s volunteer educators, this guided tour offers insight into Locke’s powerful visual exploration of identity, migration, and the lasting influence of colonial history.
Spanning more than three decades of artistic practice, the exhibition features sculptures, photographs, and mixed-media works that repurpose found materials to question symbols of empire and reimagine the iconography of power. Through intricate layering and bold imagery, Locke’s art challenges viewers to reflect on how history continues to shape the present.
Tours meet in the Entrance Court by the Visitor Services desk. The Yale Center for British Art is located at 1080 Chapel Street, New Haven, Connecticut. Admission is free and open to the public.
