Docent Tour: Hew Locke at the Yale Center for British Art

Discover the thought-provoking work of artist Hew Locke during a docent-led tour at the Yale Center for British Art in New Haven. This guided experience explores Locke’s powerful visual commentary on identity, migration, and the lasting influence of colonial history.
Visitors will engage with three decades of the artist’s work in sculpture, photography, and found materials, all of which challenge and reinterpret the symbols of empire. The tour highlights Locke’s unique ability to merge historical reflection with contemporary critique, inviting viewers to reconsider the narratives that shape cultural memory.
The tour will take place on Sunday, November 9, 2025, from 1:00 to 1:45 pm. Participants are asked to meet in the Entrance Court by the Visitor Services desk before the start of the program.
The Yale Center for British Art is located at 1080 Chapel Street, New Haven, Connecticut. Admission is free and open to the public.
