Curator Tour: Going Modern: British Art 1900–1960 at Yale Center for British Art

A guided look at modern British art takes place on Thursday, March 19, 2026, from 4 pm to 4:45 pm at the Yale Center for British Art, 1080 Chapel Street, New Haven, CT 06510.

The special tour will be led by Edward Town, assistant curator of paintings and sculpture, who will highlight key works from the exhibition Going Modern: British Art 1900–1960. The exhibition explores a transformative period in British art as artists responded to rapid social, cultural, and political change during the first half of the 20th century. Through paintings, sculpture, and related works, the exhibition examines how modernist ideas reshaped artistic expression in Britain.

During the tour, Town will offer insight into the artists, themes, and historical context behind selected works, providing a deeper understanding of how British artists engaged with modernity across the decades between 1900 and 1960.
