Photography enthusiasts and history buffs can delve into the early days of American landscape photography during the upcoming Curator Talk: The Scenic Daguerreotype in America 1840–1860 at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art in Hartford. The talk takes place on Saturday, August 2, at 1:00 pm.

Allen Phillips, the museum’s collection imaging and publications manager as well as the exhibition curator, will guide guests through the exhibition, offering insight into how early photographers used the richly tonal daguerreotype medium to capture sweeping views of the American landscape. The discussion will highlight key works and explore the techniques and artistic intentions of photographers working during this pivotal era in visual documentation.

This program is free with museum admission. While not required, advance registration is encouraged.
