CT Open House Day at Garde Arts Center

A full day of free tours, exhibits, live experiences, and entertainment will take place on June 13, 2026 at the Garde Arts Center, 325 State Street, New London, CT 06320, as part of Connecticut Open House Day.
Now in its 22nd year, Connecticut Open House Day is a statewide celebration encouraging residents and visitors to explore museums, arts venues, and cultural attractions throughout the state. The Garde Arts Center will open its doors from 12 pm to 5 pm with a variety of free activities and programs throughout the day.
Free guided tours of the historic theater will take place at 12 pm and 1 pm, giving visitors a behind-the-scenes look at the 1926 movie palace, its restored architecture, and its role in New London’s arts community.
Guests can also explore the photography exhibition Unseen Stories in the Main Lobby from 12 pm to 5 pm. Developed through workshops led by AtelierMOCA in collaboration with Artreach, Inc., the exhibit examines empathy and human connection through photography.
Additional activities include live programming from Radio Mitchell from 12 pm to 4 pm and the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra Instrument Petting Zoo from 12 pm to 2 pm, where visitors can explore and try orchestral instruments with guidance from ECSO musicians.
At 2 pm, the Garde’s giant screen will present a free screening of the documentary Sports Heaven: The Birth of ESPN, exploring the story behind the creation of the groundbreaking sports network.
The day concludes with a paid evening comedy performance featuring Mike Hanley at 8 pm in the Oasis Room as part of the Comedy in the Oasis Room series.
