Craft Workshop: Create a Travel Journal at the Connecticut Museum of Culture and History

Capture your summer memories in a one-of-a-kind way at Craft Workshop: Create a Travel Journal on Saturday, July 12, 2025, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Connecticut Museum of Culture and History in Hartford.
In this introductory-level bookmaking workshop, participants will explore the art and history of handmade books while creating their own hand-bound travel journal. Using an accordion-style design with your choice of ribbon, leather, or button closure, you’ll learn the vocabulary and binding techniques needed to craft a meaningful keepsake perfect for documenting your adventures.
All materials are provided, but attendees are encouraged to bring their own scrapbooking paper, drawings, or paintings for a personalized cover. This workshop is suitable for ages 16 and up.
Tickets are $30 for general admission, $25 for Connecticut Museum members at levels under $150, and free for members at levels of $150 and above.
The workshop will be led by Mya Concepcion, a museum educator and working artist with a BFA in Painting and Art History from the Hartford Art School.
