Conserving Textile Histories at Yale University Art Gallery

Discover the intricate world of textile preservation during Conserving Textile Histories, a special program led by Lauren Van Dessel, Postgraduate Fellow in Textiles Conservation. This engaging talk offers an inside look at the conservation process behind select works featured in the exhibition Nusantara: Six Centuries of Indonesian Textiles.
Attendees will learn how technical analyses uncover the materials and techniques that artisans have used for centuries, as well as the specialized methods that ensure these historic textiles are preserved and displayed for future generations.
