Connecticut Sea Music Festival at Connecticut River Museum

The Connecticut Sea Music Festival returns to the Connecticut River Museum in Essex on June 6, 2025, bringing with it a weekend of music, history, and community. Organized by the Maritime Music & Tradition Society, this annual event celebrates the rich traditions of maritime music, offering an engaging way to explore the culture and stories behind songs of the sea—from deepwater shanties to tunes from inland waterways.
Festivalgoers can enjoy live performances by renowned sea music artists, take part in singalongs, and even experience maritime music out on the water with special musical cruises throughout the weekend. This unique event aims to preserve and promote maritime music through education and performance, making it an immersive experience for all ages.
The Connecticut Sea Music Festival is a project of the nonprofit Maritime Music & Tradition Society Corp. and receives support from Privé-Swiss, the Connecticut Office of the Arts, The Folk Music Society of New York, Inc., and others.
