Connecticut Land Conservation Conference at Wesleyan University

March 21
Connecticut Land Conservation Conference at Wesleyan University

Wesleyan University in Middletown will host the Connecticut Land Conservation Conference on March 21, 2026, bringing together land trust professionals, community stewards, agency leaders, volunteers, and advocates for a full day of discussion and collaboration. Recognized as the state’s premier one-day event for the conservation community, the conference will take place at the Frank Center for Public Affairs, located at 238 Church Street, Middletown, CT.

The day’s agenda features a variety of workshops and panel discussions centered on key topics such as effective conservation strategies, land stewardship, climate resilience, community inclusion, and leadership development. A featured session presented by Great Mountain Forest, titled “Building Bridges Between Land Trusts and Researchers: Lessons from the Field,” will explore how research and conservation efforts can work together to strengthen decision-making and deepen understanding of natural systems. Speakers include conservation leaders and researchers from organizations such as Great Mountain Forest, White Memorial Conservation Center, Aton Forest, Flanders Nature Center and Land Trust, and the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station.

Participants will gain insight into building research partnerships, overcoming challenges, and applying research to stewardship and outreach efforts. The session aims to encourage collaboration, share real-world experiences, and support continued conservation efforts across Connecticut and beyond.

Great Mountain Forest, a nonprofit organization encompassing 6,200 acres of forestland across Norfolk, Canaan, and Falls Village, Connecticut, has been a leader in sustainable forest management for more than a century, promoting biodiversity, education, and research throughout New England.
