Blanche Lazzell: Becoming an American Modernist at the Bruce Museum

“Blanche Lazzell: Becoming an American Modernist,” a significant exhibition tracing the innovative career of pioneering abstract artist Blanche Lazzell, will be on view at the Bruce Museum in Greenwich from February 6 through April 27, 2025. The exhibit showcases over sixty paintings, prints, and works on paper, highlighting Lazzell’s evolution from her studies under William Merritt Chase and alongside Georgia O’Keeffe, to her groundbreaking exposure to Cubism and Fauvism in Paris and Provincetown. Visitors can engage with Lazzell’s artistic process in the interactive “Modernist Studio,” experimenting with Cubist-inspired landscapes and printmaking techniques.
The Bruce Museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm. Admission is $20 for adults, $15 for seniors (62+) and students, free for members and children under 5. Discounted and reciprocal admissions are available in-person only. The Bruce Museum participates in the Museums for All program, providing free admission for visitors presenting an EBT card.
