Behind-the-Scenes Tour: The Fight for Civil Rights in Connecticut at the Connecticut Museum of Culture and History

In recognition of Juneteenth, the Connecticut Museum of Culture and History will host a special behind-the-scenes tour on Saturday, June 21 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This program highlights the stories of Connecticans who have worked toward social justice and freedom, with a focus on 20th-century civil rights efforts.
Participants will visit the museum’s collections storage spaces to view rare and powerful artifacts, including materials related to 1960s fair housing protests, posters from the New Haven Black Panthers trial, and personal letters sent to a Connecticut student jailed for protesting segregation in the South.
Tickets must be purchased in advance online. Admission is $15 for general visitors, $10 for members at levels under $150, and free for members at levels $150 and above.
The Connecticut Museum of Culture and History is located at 1 Elizabeth Street, Hartford, CT. For more information, contact Public Programs Manager Natalie Belanger at (860) 236-5621 x289 or email natalie_belanger@chs.org. Visit chs.org to purchase tickets.
