Artist Talk | Joan Kantor at New Britain Museum of American Art

Poet Joan Kantor presents an engaging Artist Talk that highlights the connection between visual art and the written word. This program explores the creation of ekphrastic poetry—poems that vividly describe or respond to works of art—and is offered in conjunction with the exhibition Joe Fig: Contemplating Vermeer. Attendees will hear poetry inspired by Vermeer, Van Gogh, and pieces from the Museum’s permanent collection.

The event takes place on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 1 pm. Kantor’s background in education, counseling, and the arts has shaped a poetic voice that reaches beyond the page into communities, galleries, and collaborative performances. Her award-winning work reflects a thoughtful, human approach that resonates across audiences.
