Arthur Nager: Building Stories at Mattatuck Museum

The Mattatuck Museum presents Arthur Nager: Building Stories, on view from February 16 through May 25, 2025. This exhibition showcases the evolution of photographer Arthur Nager’s work, contrasting his early black-and-white images of everyday life with recent color photographs that focus on the architecture and landscape of the Naugatuck Valley and Greater Waterbury region.

Nager’s photographs offer a visual narrative that captures the character and transformation of the area, reflecting both continuity and change in the built environment. Through careful composition and a keen eye for detail, his work invites viewers to engage with the story of place and time in Connecticut’s industrial heartland.

The Mattatuck Museum is located at 144 West Main Street in Waterbury, Connecticut. Admission is $15 for adults, $12 for seniors, $10 for college students with ID, and $8 for children ages 5–18. Admission is free for museum members, military personnel, children under 5, and Waterbury students. Additional discounts may be available through the museum’s website.

Museum hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 11 am to 5 pm, and Sunday from 11 am to 4 pm. The museum is closed on Mondays through May.
