Arthur C. Brooks at Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts

Arthur C. Brooks will present “Finding Meaning in an Age of Emptiness: An Evening With Arthur C. Brooks” as part of the Philip I. Eliasoph Open VISIONS Forum on Tuesday, September 29, at 7:30 pm at the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts.

Brooks is an American author and academic, newly appointed as a professor at Vanderbilt University and a senior fellow at Harvard Business School. He is the author of 13 books, including Build the Life You Want: The Art and Science of Getting Happier, written with Oprah Winfrey in 2023; From Strength to Strength: Finding Success, Happiness and Deep Purpose in the Second Half of Life; and Love Your Enemies.

His latest book, The Meaning of Your Life, is among Fairfield University’s Class of 2030 Common Read selections. In his presentation, Brooks explores the growing sense of emptiness and lack of purpose many people experience and examines how rapid cultural, economic, and technological changes may affect our ability to recognize meaning and depth in everyday life.

The talk will offer practical perspectives on pushing back against these changes and cultivating greater meaning, purpose, and fulfillment. The event will take place at the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts. Additional information is available at the Quick Center for the Arts event page.
