Annual Julia Q. Keggi Lecture at Mattatuck Museum

The Annual Julia Q. Keggi Lecture will take place at the Mattatuck Museum on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 3 pm to 4:30 pm. This year’s program will feature Isabella Galdone, a PhD candidate at Yale University specializing in 19th-century British painting and material culture.

Galdone will present from her dissertation project, Pre-Raphaelite Women Artists and the Intersection of Painting, Needlework and Amateur Science. Her lecture explores the work of Rosa Brett, Elizabeth Siddall, and Joanna Mary Boyce, highlighting how these artists connected their creative practices with broader cultural interests in craft and natural science. The presentation offers a fresh look at the intersections of art, gender, and amateur science during the Victorian era.
