Annual Downtown Manchester Scarecrow Festival

The 11th Annual 2019 Scarecrow Festival will be held from October 12th through October 26th from 8 am to 8 pm in Downtown Manchester.

SCARECROW THEMES
We ask that scarecrow artists avoid political themes in their creations. Our goal is to provide a fun and festive viewing experience that everyone can enjoy.

SCARECROW INSTALLATION
Scarecrows will be on display for 2 weeks, from Saturday, Oct. 12th until Saturday, October 26th. Scarecrow should be installed between Wednesday, Oct. 9th and Saturday, Oct. 12th. We would like all scarecrows to be in place by Saturday, Oct. 12th. Each participant will install his/her own scarecrow. Scarecrow locations will be assigned by the Downtown District. Each participant will receive a written description of their assigned location. Display locations will also be tagged with the participant’s name. A different, more decorative tag will be affixed after all scarecrows are installed. Most scarecrows will be displayed in the concrete planters located along Main St. If a location other then a planter is designated for your scarecrow, it will be noted on your assignment location form. Metal channel posts will be installed in each planter. Participants will affix their scarecrow to the channel post. Please make sure your scarecrows are securely affixed. We suggest using plastic zip ties. Please be sure that Scarecrows are sturdily constructed to withstand wind and rain.

SCARECROW REMOVAL
Scarecrows should be removed by participants by end of day on Sunday, Oct. 27th.

SCARECROW CONTEST AWARDS

Viewers Choice
Downtown visitors and employees will be encouraged to vote for their favorite scarecrows. Everyone can vote, including participants! One vote per person please. Ballot boxes will be placed at various Downtown locations TBD. Votes will be collected from all ballot boxes on the afternoon of Thursday, Oct. 24th.

Facebook Favorite
Photos of the scarecrows will be posted on a special Facebook page and Facebook fans will be invited to vote for their favorite scarecrow.

Special Recognition
Recognition will also be given to scarecrows in a variety of specialty categories. All scarecrows on display will be featured on a video which will also be posted on YouTube.

Announcement of Winners
Contest winners will be announced on Friday, Oct. 25th via Facebook, The Scarecrow Festival and Downtown District website. Winners will be notified and prizes mailed to all winners. A press release announcing winners will be sent to local newspapers.
