An Evening with Emanuel Ax & Yo-Yo Ma at The Bushnell

Two celebrated musicians and longtime collaborators come together for An Evening with Emanuel Ax & Yo-Yo Ma on Friday, December 4, 2026, at 7:30 pm at The Bushnell in Hartford.

Pianist Emanuel Ax and cellist Yo-Yo Ma bring their extraordinary musical partnership to the recital stage. Friends and collaborators for decades, the two most recently worked together on their Beethoven For Three series with violinist Leonidas Kavakos.

Emanuel Ax, a longtime Sony Classical recording artist, has earned numerous honors throughout his distinguished career, including the 1975 Avery Fisher Prize and the 2026 Musical America Artist of the Year recognition. His extensive performance schedule includes collaborations with orchestras and musicians around the world, as well as recital appearances at major venues including Carnegie Hall.

Yo-Yo Ma is an internationally acclaimed cellist whose career reflects his belief in music and culture as forces for connection and understanding. He has recorded more than 120 albums, won 20 Grammy Awards and received honors including the National Medal of the Arts and Presidential Medal of Freedom. His work extends beyond the concert stage through cultural projects designed to explore how music can bring communities together.

An Evening with Emanuel Ax & Yo-Yo Ma takes place in Mortensen Hall at The Bushnell, 166 Capitol Avenue, Hartford, Connecticut 06106. The performance begins at 7:30 pm, and admission is $49.50. Please note that Emanuel Ax and Yo-Yo Ma will not be performing with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra during this engagement.
